INTER-SHELL PAVILION
|
The physical model of the Inter-Shell was created with a bendable wire-understructure to emulate the lofted curves, except rather than having separate curves, I used a single continuous wire for the entire thing, curving and twist on itself, thus emphasizing the essence of continuity that is so pertinent in the design. The surface was create with ribbing of papier-mâché strips which created a beautiful surface condition, particularly with the various lighting conditions shown below, which exhibit its changing opacity quality.

The Inter-Shell design is based off the Klein bottle phenomenon: a 3D mobius strip of sorts.
This design is made up of a tunnel which curves over itself, forming a balcony on itself, but at the entrance of the tunnel, the very edges of the entrance stretch out and back around the tunnel, forming a shell from within itself. |
